The Centerport Garden Club was founded in November 1953 by Reba Bailey with a membership of 15. We are now near our threshold of 85 members.

The mission of the Club is to promote mutual helpfulness among our members in the study of practical gardening and flower arranging; to encourage civic beautification and community plantings; and to further the conservation of our native trees, plants and birds. 

Our members team up to conduct civic beautification projects, hold community plant sales, host member garden tours, and volunteer with community groups and schools. 

   
The Club holds ten monthly meetings each year featuring speakers or workshops covering various aspects of horticulture, conservation, and floral design.

   
Members take field trips to gardens, arboretums, flower shows, and nurseries to enhance their gardening knowledge. Once every two years we hold an open meeting at our public library with a speaker on a subject of interest to members and the community.

The Centerport Garden Club presents a Flower Show every other year. The show is judged in accordance with the rules of National Garden Clubs, Inc. The purpose of the show is to showcase the work of our members and to educate the community on design, horticulture, and conservation issues.
